Iláng means ‘wilderness’. Iláng Philippines is youth-led organization and social media page that envisions a Philippines with a secure population of native wildlife that live in prosperous habitats as they steadily develop to co-exist with their communities.
After all, we all share one country and one home.

Concept Idea & Logo

In the pandemic, I was inspired to start an instagram page dedicated to championing for local wildlife because of all the dire news of species going extinct left and right. With the help of two friends who volunteered to join the cause, we formed the Ilang team.

I led weekly meetings for our little team where we would create content calendars, strategize, and plot out the dates we could come up with post concepts for.

Our logo features a Philippine Tamaraw, also known as the Mindoro dwarf buffalo. After doing research, I chose it because it is one of the country’s current most endangered endemic species and the icon of Apo Watershed in Mindoro, an integral part to our country’s biodiversity.

Illustrated by me.

Creative Direction

Illustration, Layout, & Copywriting for Ilàng.

The Ilàng Philippines design style is largely characterized by its vintage anatomical and scientific textbook inspired illustrations. The palette relies on muted neutral colors, pinks, greens, and blues inspired by natural surroundings and biodiversity. Primary assets used for the design and layout of posts include original illustrations of local species, wildlife photos, textures, and typography.

Illustration, Content Managing, & Layout Work

Collaboration with PH Parks and Biodiversity.

I lead the collaboration section of the page during the pandemic and reached out to many other local NGOs for any posts we could potentially do together.

The concept for this topic was by PH Parks but illustration and layout was by me as a content contributor for #FloraFridays.
